Specifically as an Android developer, Unix-based MacOS is very much superior for me because I can plug in wide variety of devices into my machine without having to download and install obscure drivers to get them to play nice. Windows Explorer is a great application no doubt, but off the top of my head the MacBook touchpad's hardware/software integration, hand-off/AirDrop support, and numerous other features are sorely missed in Windows. Just like this article makes some valid, but subjective points, there are plenty of quality of life improvements that MacOS has over Windows and going back and using a Windows laptop feels insufferable due to these gaps. For your specific point about splitting the screen for multitasking, the article mentions that it is available via keyboard shortcut on MacOS as well, so you do not have to pay for it.
